So I have these 15db WIFI corner antenna that use the corner like a klipch horn corner speaker. They take the 360 degree signal and pump it out to 90 degrees and use the corner to aim and amplify the signal.  They work great but I was wondering how much of a wall do you need behind them to work?? I was thinking of putting one on the back porch to feed the back yard. The size of the antenna are about 8" tall 2" and an inch thick or so.  Do I need the same large wall and corner to make this work or would a two three foot corner work.  Hawkins technology 15 db corner mounted WIFI antenna is the data on the antenna. For the Curious these are available at Fry's electonics stores along with extension cables. I have a Access point box with four SMA type antenna connectors with 850MW power feeding four antenna. I stack the corner antenna on top of each other and use two connections and use the other two connections with conventional flat panel WiFI antenna and SMA extension cables  to go to the old part of the house so WIFI works thru the rock, adobe, and metal in the walls. I have built a shotgun type WIFI antenna which was great for narrow beam for distance but I want a spread across the back yard thus wanting to use the 360 to 90 degree hawkins antenna.

So any Antenna guys here?  To me Antenna are Magic at higher frequencies.  The best location would be on the corner at the roof or floor right??  How long can a SMA cable be?? Do they sell long SMA cables as putting the ten foot ones in sequence kills the signal strength pretty quick.

Yea I am a geek and obviously don't have enough to do :-0   :-)

I'm not sure I even understand the question, but here goes:

I've never heard of a masonry corner being used as a reflector. You might get some selectivity by going in and putting in a metal surface in the corner (alum foil would probably work)

The new routers have 2 frequencies (2.4 and 5.?) The lower works slower but penetrates better, the higher works faster but is shorter range.

As long as you are line of sight, that is about as good as you are going to get, doesn't matter where the spot is. Higher is generally better up to a limit.

As far as cable, I have found that little SMA cable is crap. You can go on google and find the technical specs for most of the 75 ohm cable that Steren has and see the DB drop per 100'. I have a special built antenna for 1090 mhz that will "see" airplanes 250 miles away. It is connected with just 75 ohm coax. You can but the SMT fittings at Steren and you just have to modify the end of the coax to fit the little connectors.

I have no idea if the router frequency antenna outlets are marked or not, but you can tell by disconnecting one of the antennas and watching with a smart phone to see which signal drops.

If I had the problem, I'd figure out which jacks were the lower frequency, cable it with regular 75 ohm, high grade cable and build a multi-array antenna of about 8 segments. You can find the instructions on how to do it on google.then I'd mount it where it was line of sight where I wanted to use it.

Or the other option is to buy a repeater

Thanks good info.  Yea I thought the SMA stuff is crap thanks for verifying that.  Never thought of using 75 ohm. Corner antenna has metal shielding on 270 degrees and yes it works against typical old two foot thick walls just like a Klipch Corner horn speaker works against a wallboard or plaster corner NOB.
