What's with this Immigration requirement?
Went into the Chapala Immigration office for a resident card for my wife, and we wre told that pictures taken at Guadalajara Pharmacy were not acceptable; there was eve a note posted saying this.
I had used Guad Pharmacy photos before but took them out of the Guad Pharmacy folder and put them in a small envelope; they were accepted.
No reason given why they wouldn't take Guad Pharmacy photos; they are on Kodak glossy paaper.
Then to top it off, we were told only black/white photos were accepted and directed to a photo shop in Chapala where we were told not only they do not take B/W photos, but they never heard of that from Immigration.
Esta es Mexico????

The glossy paper doesn't work well when laminated. I don't know what the big deal is with going to a photographer and getting the pics taken CORRECTLY.

They haven't accepted photos from Farmacia Guadalajara for almost two years now! This information has been posted on the webboard several times now.

Well said, Clueless. Just for your information, my wife who is a native French person and I, a native Alabamian, both have become Mexican citizens and the photographs, taken at approved two-bit photography shops in Downtown Chapala and San Cristóbal de Las Casas were approved for Mexican Passports ipsofacto. I wish you good luck in getting approved photographs passing Mexican government standards which are of no consequence but, in the interim, some branches of Farmacia Guadalajara carry some fine Cuban Rum so if you can´t get photographed there you can at least get loaded.
Re: What's with this Immigration requirement?
I think you misunderstood about black & white. I just got my Permanente card and they wanted color. It's been several years that the various agencies have been saying "no" to photos from Farmacia Guadalajara, but they have really cracked down in the last year or two.

My wife is a native Spanish speaker and she was specifically told that MIGRA wanted B/W, hair pulled back and no earnings.
I have used Guad Pharmacy photos several times ,albeit moe than two years ago, and they were accepted. Of course, I removed them from the Guad Pharmacy folder and just put them in a small envelope.
Guad Pharmacy harges $25.00. Today the photo studio on Madero in Chapala wanted $170 and said it would take two days.
I wonder if this "No Guad Pharmacy" photos is in all immigration offices or only Chapala. I wouldn't put it past the higher prided places to give a little thanks to someone at immigration for"referring someone for pictures.
No one has said why Guad Pharmacy pics are not acceptable.

Your wife was either given incorrect information, or she misunderstood. Our visa photos were taken in colour. Had them done at the studio in Chapala, and no problems with them being accepted by Immigration. Why take the chance of getting your photos rejected, and wasting your time and money by having to do it over again? Get them done right the first time.

Re: What's with this Immigration requirement?
My brand spanking new Mexican Permanent Visa has a color photo on it. I just looked to be sure. Go somewhere else Clueless. I have never waited for more than 10 minutes at any of the photo shops in Chapala once the pictures were taken. Don't you get tired of fighting things????

Maybe the attraction for clueless is the 25 peso at Guad Pharmacy , instead of 100 peso at the photographer in Chapala.

Re: What's with this Immigration requirement?
The requirement is there as the photos from Farmacia Guadalajara dont scan well so peoples faces are blurry or dont show properly and if people use them they risk their cards being rejected when they arrive and having to get new ones which means more time and money.
