Medications
I understand many meds are OTC in Mexico, if the information I see is right. I am curious about the availability of certain medications, where can I find this information? Thanks

Re: Medications
Antibiotic, narcotics, certain sleeping compounds and pseudo-epinephrine require a prescription. Pretty much everything else is available. Not sure where you would find a list of non-script stuff. Best just to ask for your particular drug at the pharmacy.

Re: Medications
You might look at this link as medications in MX often have a different name https://sites.google.com/site/expatriotrphconsultants/findtherightrxdruginmexiconow

Re: Medications
There are times when your meds will not available, it doesn't happen often but it has happened. I'm sure if the people this has happened to and see this hopefully they will tell their experience. It is rare... Keep that in mind.

Re: Medications
Twice my medication was not available and could not be obtained through any pharmacy here or in Guadalajara or through my specialist. I keep an extra 3 month supply to cover this because the last time it didn't come back on the shelves again for 5 weeks. This experience is recent, as in last month.

Yes, Tambocor for a-fib. As to how common or uncommon it is here, I don't think it is really common. At best it was a special order but most of the time I obtained directly from my doctor. The problem this time, I think, was it was being made available at Farmacia Guadalajara for the first time and in different packaging so it was held back. My cardiologist phoned to tell me I could buy it there now rather than traipse out to his office. Gotta love the doctors here.
