Fishing Competition - Ajijic Malecon - 16 Sept
Does anyone know how the fishing competition went on Dia de la Independencia morning? I saw a few carp being caught at the time the parade was passing. It was very windy. The turn-out rather surprised me - 20 fishermen maybe?

Was the fishing competition in San Juan Cosala? If so Tia Maria's Restaurant is the place to go and talk to Augstine. Maybe he's branched out but over the years he has held a lot of fishing contests.

It was in and around the Ajijic pier. They seem to have 3 or 4 fishing events per year. I always wish I had heard about them in advance so I could enter but I've never seen them advertised anywhere.

My wife told me about the competition a few days ago after finding it here...

I thought it was just going to be a fun event for the local kids but some of the kids were grandpas! There was a good mix of folks from the community with a few girls in the mix. What surprised me was quality of some of their fishing tackle. Yes, a couple of guys had no rods and were wrapping lines around around cans, but the majority appeared to have good quality tackle and nice spinning reels!
Perhaps the local expat fishing club could post future events on their website?
