Danger of BBQ grill cleaners

A study earlier this year from the University of Missouri School of Medicine identified close to 1,700 injuries from wire-bristle grill brushes reported in U.S. emergency rooms since 2002. The authors of that study said that their numbers were likely an underestimate of the problem, and called wire brush bristle injuries a growing health concern.

Seems like everything is a growing health concern these days. What would us idiots do without these public service announcements?

A friend had something irritating her throat.. Doctor couldn't find a problem..
She insisted something lodged in her throat...
After much awkward and painful digging she pulled a wire from her throat.

If you do choose to use a wire brush to clean cooking appliances... use industrial style ( welding )
brushes, with heavier, coarse wire... less likely to accidently ingest.

When I worked at BASF - I was leading a day-long meeting, where we had sent out for pizzas for lunch.  I spent the afternoon of that day at an emergency care facility, because the middle of my tongue had been pierced through by a metal spike from one of those darn metal cleaning brushes,embedded in the pizza.  Avoid at all costs!
