Agree that the atmosphere and friendliness makes the place... Food is OK but not spectacular... A good place for the geriatric set to bump and grind.... I certainly wish them the best in their endeavor...

I guess the atmosphere and people make the place in the evening with music and dancing. In the cold light of day it was just a place with over-priced tacos.

Went a couple times for lunch. I agree with the general opinion that it's not about the food. Not bad; not great. More of a village pub for the livlier older folks.

HEY FAMILIA!!!!
We already have the location for the Chillin' Baby it is going to be on the corner of Donato Guerra and 16 de Septiembre just where the Ole Ola used to be. we are going to open Friday the 12th!!! And you all are invited... just bring hugs!!! ❤
And the plans for the Big Just Chillin' with the dance floor and party we are planning for the opening on November
I think the old 'Ole'Ola' location is going to be packed solid next Friday!
That place is so small that it won't take too many people to pack it solid, so it should be "friendly"! Have a good one!
I think Ole Ola is just a temporary location while they work on a larger location which is supposed to be ready in November.

Ohgawd, the mental image. All I ever heard about were the 'hugs'!
I think the music part in the evenings and margaritas sound good but since I don't drink and drive that never worked for me. Perhaps now that they're closer. . .
I agree, LOL it does sound like a cult-like following.

Great tacos, you can create your own ingredients and great avocado grilled shrimp salad.

I went there once for lunch. Unexceptional food, normal restaurant-like service in a typical environment. I did have a margarita which was very good but that was it. It really was just another pleasant place to have lunch. There was nothing extraordinary that made me want to go back, and so I never did.
My sentiments exactly.....maybe less as I don't drink margaritas.

Re: Just Chillin coming back
According to the Jus Chillin crew, Noe and his girlfriend have taken over the restaurant in Cozumel so we won't be hearing Noe sing around here again anytime soon.

Yep Noe moved to Cozumel. He was my neighbor said he was moving to Cozumel and not much more than that. Nice to hear more info.

Well good for Noe, I hope he is very successful and happy.
Love hearing Just Chillin is coming back. I've taken multiple couples there when no one could decide where to eat. I just asked the question "when was the last time you hugged a pretty 19 year old?" and that made the decision.

Some people REALLY REALLY need a hug. So, secret of success: "Find a need and fill it". Apparently it worked, since so many folks are so happy they're back.

How can you live in Mexico and not get enough hugs? Huggiest place I have ever lived.

Re: Just Chillin coming back
They used to be just a short hop east on the carretera from us. (We are in the boonies of La Canacinta.) Went there once if not twice a week. Easy place to relax after a frustrating and/or tiring day. I was addicted to the shrimp taco with spinach and cheese. Don't know what they put on the shrimp but miss the taste! Hey, the beer was cold and the music was lively--what's not to like?
Note: Since I am of the female persuasion (I am outing me!), I did not go for the hugs. But, you know, when you get older, a hug comes to mean a lot. Even if you have lots of people to hug, more is better!

Re: Just Chillin coming back
I loved the hugs and I forgot to mention the smiles.
Love being in places and around people who are happy and I always felt like they were happy and nice to be around.

Re: Just Chillin coming back
I agree the food is mediocre but you can't put money on how they treat you. They make every person that comes through the door feel special. And their upscale margaritas are delicious.
We will be back to visit in February.

The hugs here are harmless. One of the local five year olds just walks up to us and hugs us. The locals just smile and tell us thats normal for her. Everybody hugs everybody here it seems.

Re: Just Chillin coming back
At the new place they mainly serve burgers and appys along with the usual line-up of drinks. I think the kitchen is too small for the full menu. The burgers are quite good. Huge homemade beef patties. Small cozy atmosphere with good music in the background.
Re: Just Chillin coming back
Tried it--simple food, but as always, consistently well-prepared. Yes, they said the menu in their new place in Ajijic is limited because of the small kitchen area, but they said they are also, in addition, opening a larger place soon that will have their full menu. I miss the shrimp, cheese and fresh spinach tacos!

Re: Just Chillin coming back
I noticed they took over the former Ole Ola on the corner where you go to La Nueva Posada. Just a small restaurant but they were open and the sign was out "Chillin".

I don't really get the idea of people you don't know hugging you. Not my cup of tea.
