I have a combination DVD/VHS player. Should I bring it with me to lake Chapala or should i just buy a DVD player there? Will my DVD's from USA work in DVD player from Mexico? I am not planning to record anything, just play my DVD's. Thanks, Bill

If you still have something that plays VHS's it is probably time for an upgrade.....jaja. You can get a new DVD player here for about $30 USD.

Bring a US DVD player if you plan to watch USA region DVDs. You can also purchase no region DVD players. Mexico DVD players will not play US region DVD after a few plays as US DVD players would stop playing Mexican region DVD after a few plays. All of LCS DVD rentals are for US region DVD.

The cheap Chinese-made players sold in Walmart, Soriana and other places are all-region. I've had no problem playing DVDs from Mexico, the UK, Spain and the US for the last 6 years.

Not all units sold here are no region.

It should say on the box. If not you could either ask the clerk or Google the model for more info. There is also ways to reprogram a new DVD player so it plays all regions.

I thank everyone who responded here. I will just get a DVD player when in Lake Chapala. One less thing to bring down! I looked at the site Bob referenced. Seems like a simple enough fix, even I could do it!
