RESTAURANT TIPS
I am told by local workers that some Lakeside Restaurants steal the tips from employees.
Anyone have any names of restaurants with this policy? I personally want to boycott these establishments

They steal the wages but give them the tips?.....They should be boycotted too.
Do you know of anyplace where the employees have to pay the employer to work there?

Some do, some are handed down by a family member who's retiring.

Interesting thing I find about Pemex workers, at least where I frequent, there is little turnover. All the same guys at the Pemex on the Libramiento station for years.

All Pemex stations are privately owned. Those guys don't work for Pemex!

Oh, that's right! So, that jefe must treat them well. I've also been told that person is the owner of Lake Taco and the car wash. True?

The Pemex gasolineras in SAT and La Canacinta AKA Combustibles del Lago is a Hernandez family enterprise, who are also the developers (Interlago) of many fraccionamientos west of Rancho del Oro and others areas, including Plaza Interlago where the gasolinera is located.
Not the car wash or Lake Taco.....they are tenants.

This happens a lot in the US also, like the Iron Workers Union. Membership stays in the family.
Some police departments.

Re: RESTAURANT TIPS
Slainte, who is the owner of Lake Taco, do you know? When I asked them they pointed to the Pemex station.

They (Interlago) own the building and land, not the business. I've met and knew the name of the business owner but can't tell you off the top of my head right now. Same with the Vancouver Wings business in between.

Re: RESTAURANT TIPS
If you mean Carlos the manager, he is not the owner - at least he has said no several times. Nor was Fernando the first manager who went back to the states.
Slainte, do you mean the owner of LT is the same as the owner of Van. Wings?

No, just that Interlago (Job and Alejandro Hdz.) own the building. V. Wings is one of a franchise operation, don't know the SAT franchisee, but probably the same as the franchisee locations in Guad. , as there are several there.
BTW CBob......what are Vancouver wings?? If anyone would know, you should.
In the Mexican business world, one SA (sociedad anonima) will own the land, one will own the structures, one will own the business, one will supply employees, and several other creations by the same person/family/entity, to reduce taxes. So it's difficult to determine the owners by just researching the "owners", unless you can see the "actas" of the corporations to see who the principals are.
In the case of the gasolinera in SAT, Combustibles del Lago leases the space from Interlago...same people.
I have seen one business owner have as many as 6 SA's for one business.

Re: RESTAURANT TIPS
Vancouver wing's is some sort of chain or franchise. I have seen a few of them in Guadalajara. There are none in Vancouver......
Re: RESTAURANT TIPS
LOL Bob.
Very interesting, Slainte. Thank you. I k.ew it was like that but I couldn't figure all that out.
So. With all those amigos and cuñados involved in one enterprise I can see how easy bad blood can
happen.

Re: RESTAURANT TIPS
Good observation. My My sister's ex hubby is a retired Union Iron Worker, his son is a current iron worker. Years ago the large brewery union in Saint Louis was mostly family passed on jobs, not so much now. BBslainte39 wrote:David wrote:Some do, some are handed down by a family member who's retiring.
