Re: FMM refund - American Airlines
The times it has worked we have sent it to everyavailable email address, itinerary, boarding passes, luggage tags etc.. everything and of course the Mexican visas to establish the status. We never tell them how much to refund because that could result in an actual denial if their number is different. Generally its been around $50-60 US. But we generally travel many legs. Documentation for every leg.
I have noticed that the tickets I recently purchased from the US to GDL for about $800 each included in the confirmation a breakdown of the line item costs.
This has been 50% successful.

No DAvid he says he just used all the emails he could find on their website, uploaded all the documentation and sent it out to them all at once. It has worked for US Air, not United but he agrees he failed to followup since we were gone again quickly. I have had refunds from Delta also. Those have only been from the last segment, usually houston or Dallas to GDL.
Apparently you have been out of town and are in a coffee/lunch deficit. So expect purses for the animals when next you have time to meet.

Does it make a difference if you list your residence as Mexico?

It was instrumental to include in the cover letter the Permenente status and a coppy of the passport, the visa in the passport and the INM card front and back.

I mean on aa.com where your profile is. It asks your country of residence.

I KNOW that. My CC is from the US and I used to put the US as my residence. Haven't flown since I changed it to Mexico so if you list Mexico as your residence they shouldn't be charging the tax or do they?

They will since they don't know your visa status or if you're a citizen.

So do Mexicans have to go through this? I suppose it's based on your passport.

No, not if you have a Mexican passport. I have never been charged by any airline.

Re: FMM refund - American Airlines
I contacted AA two months ago about the tax refund, and they accomplished the entire process in less than 10 minutes via phone. I called the USA toll free 1-800-433-7300, explained what I was calling about, and they transferred me to the right person. Twice before that I had to email them copies of my RP, and they then credited my cc.

You would think they could put that on your profile.
