Landlord Liability?
Who is ultimately responsible if a tenant, unbeknownst to landlord, has a telephone/internet line installed to a casita and then skips town leaving a debt tied to that line? I think I know the answer but looking for others input. I think it is probably the property owner, correct? Can I find out the particulars of that installation by going to TelMex with property ownership proof? TIA

Re: Landlord Liability?
The name is important if it is the owner of the main property. If not (service in another name), the number will be shut off until someone pays the bill. If you are not willing to pay the bill, forget that number, as it will not ever be operable at that location.

Where is the modem? Did they take it with them?

Re: Landlord Liability?
If there is a large amount owing, I mean BIG, the Telmex would probably go after the "deep pockets," ie: The owner of the property who is around.
IMO only.

No doubt. That's why when you purchase a property all those things need to be paid off prior to completion.
