Narcomanta?
While I was on Facebook this evening, I read this post that appears to be a threat or a notification of a curfew. It mentions Jocotepec and the surrounding area. If there is any truth to this post, I think people would be well advised to stay home and not go out after 11 p.m.

Re: Narcomanta?
I would think most of the older ex-pat community, purchases their "products" before 11PM.

Re: Narcomanta?
This post was not meant for just expats. In talking with some of my neighbors and friends that are Mexican, they seem a little bit worried about this post also. Since I am a 78 year old gringo, I don't think I have to worry too much about this posting but sometimes I'm out after 11 p.m. and I would think if this sort of thing is going to happen around here there might be a danger of getting caught in the crossfire sometime.
One thing I find curious about this post is that it was written in Spanish but posted on Facebook with a bad translation in English. One friend of mine that I talk to says that perhaps the post is meant to freak out Gringos. Some Mexicans in this area think that there are too many Gringos here now and this post is supposed to scare us out of here.

Looks to me to be from a teenager spouting narco jibberish. I worry not.

Re: Narcomanta?
I talked with a police officer I have known for many years. He said that he saw the post, too. He said there are currently NO alerts in place in the municipality of Chapala. As of right now it's all rumors. The Facebook post is all they have heard of it, well in addition to people talking about the post. He did say it's always a good idea to not be out late and if you are to be aware of what's going on around you. He said that until they figure out if this is rumor or truth to be extra cautious at night.

Several of the Mexicans that have commented on this post on Facebook have said "neta" which means true or real. Some friends have said that the streets are dead after 11 p.m. so I think that the Mexicans are taking this post seriously.

Would any government agency confirm such a thing?

Re: Narcomanta?
I have asked my Mexican neighbor if there was anything going on and she replied that her sister told her about this and also that the army is in Joco already. What she said exactly is, "Yes, it is starting again." She also told me that the people are planning on being in the house at night.

Re: Narcomanta?
Sounds like a great opportunity to put some heavily armed undercover agents out on the streets after 11pm.
