What a crock of crap specifying an age. Maybe Mexico will one day see what happens when only young people are employable. Was the opening caused by someone aging out?

The age group is not written in stone. He has a team working that is in this age group and thus the suggestion.

Sure. Because people ages 20 to 35 can work well only with other people 20 to 35. I get it.
So, is there a secret code that lets people know that "ages 20 to 35" is just a suggestion, that would make a 40- or (gasp) 50-year-old know they would be welcome to apply?
I remember when ads read like this in the U.S. It was not all that long ago either. They would even say "male only" or "white only." So, really, I understand.

I am sure anyone with the qualifications would certainly be welcome to apply.

A suggestion then for next time: they could just say they have an open position. Then potential candidates won't feel they are too old or too young to apply.

Age discrimination in Mexico regarding employment is common and deplorable.
If you're over 40 and looking for a job you're probably SOL.
You might get a job as a taxista or a cerillito or a viene-viene though...

Anyone who is qualified and feels comfortable working around younger people should apply.

It used to be the same NOB.  Then the law changed, but guess what?  Nothing really changed.  If you're job hunting over 40, it's not so easy as at 25 or 30.  If you're over 50, they play games in which you end up being "second" in the hiring choices, no matter what your qualifications are.  So, Mexico doesn't have that law and doesn't need to pretend that they will consider older people. This is simply reality.
If you're over 35, it's time to get yourself self-employed.  It may be a struggle, but at least the boss can't fire you.

To be employed in Mexico beyond the age of 40, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE EMPLOYED WHILE FEMALE, means to be SELF-employed. All you have to do is look around to confirm that.

I remember those days too, LOL, way back when I was entering the job market in Honolulu. Classified ads read Help Wanted Male or Help Wanted Female. The male ones had jobs like: cop, pilot, salesman, fireman, manager, air traffic controller, etc and the female ones read: secretary, file clerk, housekeeper, waitress, nurse etc.

Mexico needs to step up to the 21st century in this respect for sure! However, it's not likely to happen any time soon.

Yep. Maybe they'll do like the U.S. did and the employers will of course continue doing what they always did, just like in the U.S.
The U.S. is the ultimate perpetrator of hypocrisy is just about any way I can think of. Any doubts about this? Look at the current state of the political scene.

I saw this employment solicitation recently in a department store.
"Looking for attractive single women ages 18 to 25 with no children."
Of course age discrimation isn't unique to Mexico but that's pretty blatant.

To me it is a human rights issue and should be addressed as such.

Ha. I don't think a picture with CV is necessary ! The main thing is the qualifications and I am sure every one that is qualified will be considered regardless of age, as long as they can do the job.

Worked at a manufacturing company in GDL about 20 years ago. They hired a secretary while the Director was on vacation. When he came back, he said (in Spanish) "she is ugly, get rid of her". They did!
