You guys should check out Presa Calderon for bass fishing. It is only about 1 1/2 hours away and apparently has some very large fish. The only drawback is it is electric motor only. They do rent boats but you have to row.

You can store a boat there for about $100 MXN per month.

I haven't fished there yet however a friend went there to check it out last week. He said the lake was very large and he saw a few guys with some pretty big bass. I am going to check it out soon. I am sure there is some good shore fishing.

I split this off into a new topic so we don't hijack the fishing clubs thread.

I just talked to my friend again and he said that there wasn't really any good places to fish from the shore without hip waders so one would need to either bring their own boat (electric only) or rent one of the row boats.

I've fished there twice, got skunked once and caught 4 smallish bass the other time.
If you go check out the battlefield where the famous Batalla de Puente de Calderon took place.

From an inflatable row boat, since I'm not a member of fishing club we used the access that many use,it's bit of a walk, luckily my wife who also likes to fish was there to help me carry the boat. Very Happy

I think a couple of buddies and I are going to either buy, or have built, an aluminum Jon boat and store it there.

A jon boat is like a mini bass boat, similar to a duck punt.
