ROBERTO'S: BIG CHANGES
We used to like Roberto's, but then Bobby got ill and turned it over to Omar for the last year or so. To put it kindly, things changed and we quit eating there. Over the weekend, there was a tantalizing ad saying "Bobby's back" etc., so we went there yesterday for Sunday Brunch. Bobby's back, all right. Apparently he fired most of the staff with the exception of the bartender; upgraded the quality and preparation of the food, got his old chef, Martini, back and we had a delicious brunch.
So, for any of you who had given up on the place........a second chance might be in order. We'll be back.

Our last visit there was an awful experience... We were a table of 5 couples with 2 waiters, who presented us with bills written out on scrap paper, overcharging everyone... Nothing like ripping off the customers and the owner at the same time....
I always like Roberto's.

We had quite an interesting conversation with Bobby yesterday about how things had been going.
The current menu, at the top, tells customers to check their bills and address any questions to the management.
I'm looking forward to the new menu and chef. For one thing, they had actually changed out the grease and the carrot fritters were the way they used to be....tasty and light colored.

We used to be regular patrons at Roberto's and really liked it....
...but then we got tired of giving it "second chances".

I like Roberto's, but how they are presenting the bills I hate. Always I have to control and to ask the prices of every position. Several times they overcharged and I claimed. Can't they count? I want to have a nice evening without controlling!

Please read the previous posts. Everything has changed. Our bill on Sunday was an ordinary restaurant bill, listing every item.
Most all of the waitstaff has been fired. New waiters.

The big change was this week. Also note that at the top of the menu, customers are asked to check their bills carefully and report any errors to the management. I talked to Bobby on Sunday, and he really means that. He is very aware of the problem.

Re: ROBERTO'S: BIG CHANGES
Went for lunch today with two friends who had given up on the place. New menu with a large selection. I had the "Chapala style whitefish" that was good a long time ago, and by gum, it was good again, and a generous portion.
My spouse had the Greek salad and one of our friends had the asparagus with chicken salad. Everybody was happy.
As usual, the setting is lovely. I'm glad it's back on my "go to" lunch places.
No 50 peso lunch menu now. Around 70 to 90 pesos, and well worth it.

I was nice to see Bobby in his "normal" energetic state with a newly grown full head of hair. Colon cancer is a bitch, but he hung in there with the treatment and I gather that it was a success. He had said at the beginning that they caught it early.
