Screwed up policies when selling your home
Deb and I sold our home and are closing in August. Her name is not on the title. I signed a power of attorney, as I do not feel up to the drive she wants a few items so she is driving down. It's no problem, but, now they want a copy of our Marriage License. We have provided Appostillo and all other required info and documents.
Seems strange to me? Anyone experience same?
TIA

I would think it wouldn't matter if she is your wife or not as long as she has your POA. It could be your uncle Joe and shouldn't matter.

No Kidding, Gamina! They have a copy of the license already, plus a copy of the Apostillo. Fortunately, we have the original in hand!

Hi, they want her to sign as unless you were married under separate property, there could be a cloud on title and need the marriage cert to prove it and they always ask for an apostille.

Paper with gold embossed seals are the best though!

What gets me is the Mexican Government lives on paperwork. I would never have guessed, assigning POA could come under such scrutiny!

The POA has nothing to do with it. If you sell a property and you are married the notary wants to check under what regime you are married . I just went through the same thing in France and I had to send my marriage licence over there as well.
