Union Ajijic revisited
Many of you already know about our local futbol school, but for those who don't.....
Union de Ajijic is a futbol school for kids from 7 to 16 years old.
It is free to all who wish to attend, and is an excellent way of keeping them from other less desirable activities.
There are rules for playing in the club. No drugs, no gang involvement, and regular attendance at school.
They are divided in to 4 teams. minis, ponies, juniors and juvis, from youngest to oldest, according to the league rules.
The teams play on Sundays starting with the youngest at 9:00 and the oldest play at around 12:00.
Their home games are played at the Cruz Azul field which is on Revolucion at the carretera.
Home games are every other week, and this Sunday they will be at home.
The juvis wear the uniforms supplied by their supporters from Inside Lakeside, and the minis and ponies are the kids from the Tecoluta field who we recently supplied with the equipment that they badly needed.
The Inside Lakeside team was undefeated prior to last Sundays game. I do not know the outcome of the game, but I am hoping that their record is intact.
From time to time, I will be asking for financial support for the teams, and I hope that we can not only count on the current supporters, but perhaps gain some new ones.
Just as important for me is support at the games. I will endeavor to inform everyone of the upcoming games, and I hope that some of you will join me at the games (I do not go to the early ones, but can usually make it there before noon).

What a great endeavor, hope you have a great turnout ~ by the time I meander over to your neck of the woods, it will be the new year.

Re: Union Ajijic revisited
I know the kids are not playing for our benefit BUT there is a whole group of adults who give their time freely and willingly to help these kids out. They know that giving the kids something positive to do keeps them off the streets and away from less savory temptations. The kid who is training 5 nights a week (and they do!) is not the kid causing problems on our streets. And we all benefit from this. When I go to the games not only do I enjoy some very entertaining soccer, but I also feel it is my way of showing appreciation to some very dedicated people.

Re: Union Ajijic revisited
Don't miss the games this Sunday. Starting at 9:00 at the Cruz Azul field.
Enter off Revolucion, just south of the Carretera.
Admission is 10 pesos, and beer and food are available.
The Inside Lakeside team plays at about 12:00.
Hope to see you there.
