DENTAL EXPRESS? Empty DENTAL EXPRESS?

Post by gringal Fri Apr 17, 2015 6:03 pm

Friends of mine are very loyal to Dental Express in spite of the fact that when they went for a second opinion to a very reputable dentist, he told them the husband didn't need the work that was going to be done.
I've heard some very negative things, but don't want to trash anyone on here that hasn't had direct experience. If you don't mind sticking your neck out, put your experience here. if you don't want to do that, please PM me.
These are good friends but tend to be loyal to their providers, no matter what.............so I'd appreciate some input. So far, they've spent a whole lot of money there. Seems like way too much.

Follow your instincts. It seems that you have already answered your own question.

'Fraid not, R.V.
I followed another person's recommendation to see my current dentist and I'm so satisfied after 5 years that I have no reason to switch.  My friend is another story, and I've had no experience with Dental Express, so it's just my uninformed opinion. My "instincts" wouldn't be very good advice for somebody else. Need a few real life experiences to back them up.

Gringal, like you, I've heard a couple of negative things, so my opinion is not worth much, but why would you even mention "trashing" someone on here, if they hadn't had a direct experience.
Having said that, I hope you find someone who has/is, a direct patient of said clinic, and if it is negative, they PM you so another debacle like the one on TOB doesn't occur here.

I have had direct experience with Dental Express. I would not ever go to them again for anything more than a teeth cleaning.

My wife has been to Dental Express, and her experience there was so horrific that she still does not like to talk about it.

They pulled a wisdom tooth that didnt need pulling. It turned out to be a cracked molar that Dr. Candy easily spotted and fixed after the fact.

DENTAL EXPRESS? Empty Re: DENTAL EXPRESS?

Post by rckrckr Sat Apr 18, 2015 10:22 am

Went to Dental Express for a cleaning a couple of years ago. Was satisfied with the cleaning but I was told I needed extensive work to a large number of teeth, which didn't sound right to me as I have quarterly cleaning and exams. Went for a second opinion to an established and well known dentist in Riberas who confirmed that I needed some minor work to a couple of teeth, not nearly to the extent I had been told by DE. Also, and just as troubling, this dentist showed me via computer camera that DE had done a very superficial cleaning. You get what you pay for.

I know of a lady that came from the states to have 2 front teeth implants done there. They ended up too big and stuck out to far like bugs bunny. She wasn't happy but basically it is what it is. She went back to the states with her newly implanted big stick out teeth.
Recommend Dra. Candy. She will give a free consultation.

my wife went there at my urging, cost me 2200 in the US to fix what they did. i had a tooth with cold pain, DE says pull it, a root canal and better filling took care of it. also had 2 crowns put on 2 years ago, problems ever since. just got them replaced by dr rebecca sandoval in riberas across from pet center. great job working fine. i will never go back to dental express, nice folks though.

FWIW, I have had 3-4 experiences with D.E. and they were all positive, including removals of teeth I know needed removing.

I have also gotten opinions from some other dentists and one was 2X the price of any other dentist, including D.E. and the explanation ha gave me for the $10,000 cost of a crown just didn't jive with what the others told me.

YMMV of course.

Don't know what to say other than I would go back.

Do any of the dentists do tooth clening the old fashioned way..scraping?
Ultra sonic is superficil as it does not clean below the gum line.

Dra. Martha Medina on the NW corner of Constitucion and Marcos Castellanos, in Ajijic, does some scraping with a tool, manually operated, along with the other procedures she does in a cleaning.
No hammer and chisel, though.  Very Happy
