truck got hit by a drunk

at just after 2am. hit it so hard that my truck was pushed 10 meters from in front of the house. he was so drunk that there was no brake marks. he is a neighbour and we are surrounded by umpteen relatives. adjuster won't be coming until 10 am. vialidad cops and bomberos were super. the baracho was taken away by cruz roja so he can't even be arrested. head broke his windshield and his legs are buggered. this weren't no accident but that's what everybody is calling it. when i called the police # i got a damn answering machine but somehow the cops were there shortly after it happened. both were towed away.

my insurance only covers if we hit somebody. no collision so i don't even know if mine will go after his. i might need a lawyer. both vehicles towed to impound.

Probably not likely the guy has a few thousand pesos lying around to pay fines, medical bills, and buy Pedro a new car, huh? What was he driving? Is Pedro's car totaled?

Pedro, you best start shopping if you want to have wheels any time soon. One of the distinct hazards of on-street parking.

Look at the sides of Pedros truck bowing out. I would bet the frame is tweaked in the back of his truck. Luckily it can be fixed and no one but the idiot was hurt.

When we were in an accident without collision, both drivers at fault, our insurance paid for his damage and his insurance paid for our damage.

How can Pedro be "at fault" if the car was parked and there was no driver since he was upstairs in bed?

read my lips. my truck was parked in front of my house and the pinche baracho ran right into it at a rate of speed because he was too drunk to see or passed out. i have not slept since 2 in the morning and the jackass adjustor didn't show up and allegedly will be here in 3 minutes-yeah right,that was 10 minutes ago.

So I'm saying that in Pedro's case, the other guy's insurance pays him for his truck, doesn't matter if he has only collision or not.

pedro can be at fault if the relatives ("he is a neighbour and we are surrounded by umpteen relatives") of the driver testify that pedro plied him with the intoxicants

In Ontario they call it a collision. Much more accurate a description of vehicle crashes.

I don't know the make, but Fords have a safety turn off for the fuel pump to prevent fires from ruptured gas tanks. Somewhere in the rear of the vehicle is a cirsuit breaker like switch you can reset.

I prefer 'crash' too.

The only salvation to the financial aspect of this crash is if Pedro had 'uninsured motorist' or the boracho had any insurance at all. Pretty unlikely, I'd guess, and Pedro has already stated he only had 'collision'.

In BC there is ICBC no-fault auto insurance...can't beat that along with the Koppen Cfb climate.
