I need a network God
I have had issues with range, bought a long range router but didnt work that well, both the power line system and couldnt get it to work, have a linksys extender and it works off and on. How hard is it to extend a solid, quality internet signal across a home? Recently Telecable has problems and my speeds have dropped to under 1mbps and I call and nag them daily and they always send a new guys to test all my stuff and then outside they say it is them and a week later same problem. I have a ghost, curse or some electrical interference and want the right person to be able to spot it and mod the system so both my cable and telmex will work and can use them both to get reception for work and streaming videos down the hall and downstairs about at the other side of the building just 75 feet way.
I need a God to exorcise the bad vibes away, heck it is frustrating to get a stronger signal from some neighbor down the street than your own equipment down the hall! I live off this internet stuff for business and waiting is cutting into my profits

It is very hard to get a good WiFi signal through cement and steel. While not a "network god" I would recommend you hard wire all your WiFi routers together. I have 3 wired together to get full coverage on my property. You probably need 4 (2 on each level, front and back) It's easy to do. You just need lengths of Cat 5 cable.

Here's a video you may want to watch.
http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=26941
If you have more than one secondary router I assume you would increment the last segment of the ip address for each additional one, other than using 192.168.1.2 as shown in the video for the first secondary router that gets cascaded. Hopefully more than one secondary router can be cascaded if that's what you need but I don't know the answer to that.
Even if this is not something you want to tackle yourself it hopefully will give you and idea of what needs to be done so someone doesn't blow humo arriiba el culo.

First off, it sound like you are having more than one problem. The wifi and the dsl. The wifi would be handled by a network person. When I get there in three months I can help you out but that will undoubtedly be to late and you will have gotten it fixed. As for the 1mbps, that unfortunately can only be fixed by telmex. Depending on the protocol they are using, I do have some test equipment to test the line but ultimately fixing it will be up to them. Sorry I can't be of more help, perhaps contacting the suggested person will work for you. That would be my suggestion at this point.Intercasa wrote:I have had issues with range, bought a long range router but didnt work that well, both the power line system and couldnt get it to work, have a linksys extender and it works off and on. The right antenna will go right through walls. You need one that points and concentrates the 360 degree signal to 90 degrees and it will punch through walls. Better Asus 9 inch antenna help and using a router/switch with three removable antenna will help. I also use a Amped repeater with removable antennas which allow you to run an extension cord and run the better Asus antenna. Nothing is wired up in my house directly and if you can wired is best as CB says but you can make wireless work! One of my antenna feeding outside area can be hooked up to 1/4 mile away and it still works. Much voodoo with antennas, wifi, and such. Changing channels may help if you are in a concentrated area. If you want to see what I have done Intercasa give me a PM. First problem is to figure out if you have a wifi problem or DSL problem and proceed accordingly. Different procedure for each problem.
