Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
Just got back from two days of fishing:
Day 1 - raining and cold, 11:00am - 3:00pm fishing was slow and miserable. We caught 12 smaller ones on watermelon crankbaits. We only went about 10km's from the dam. The other guests faired no better.
Day 2 - sunny with some clouds, much warmer, 7:00am - 1:00pm fishing was absolutely incredible!!!! Some of the best I have ever seen!!! We caught approximately 60 1 - 4 pounders in a 2 hour period in one spot. Every time we threw the line in we brought in a fish. We were using light green worms. This was in an area about 45 minutes up the lake from the dam, as recommended by Jim.

Makes my heart happy.......You guys had at least one great day of fishing and a matching day of CATCHING! I shoulda given CB my filet knife, so the guides could filet them as they were caught.

I now have a complete filet kit which I took out in the boat. The guide was happy to have used it.
Re: Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
I assumed the fish tied to a stringer in the water were yours.......my bad.
I insist they fillet them when landed. We have made runs over an hour from the dam and caught up to 40 in one spot with crank bait. We had 7 doubles that day. Don caught a 5 lb., and a 2lb., on one crank bait........real war.
When I fist introduced you guys to the Lake, I avoided the long run because, a little bitchen about why not fish here, it's too hot, waters to rough..... Next trip, I will contact Humberto and make sure he is my guide. We may get our ass kicked on the way in....rough water......this is a huge lake....time to start exploring other areas on the lake.

Re: Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
Those were our fish. We stayed in that one spot for over 2 hours. Those fish were fileted before we raised the anchor to go back to the lodge. We were far too busy catching fish to filet each one as it came out of the water.........jajaja. Every cast was bringing one in each. Unbelievable. Never seen it that good with so many larger fish in one spot.
We'll be heading back in February or March.

I'll be there....Bud.....Hopefully we can fish together next trip. Â I'll make the arrangements with Humberto, and he will be our guide. Â He is one of the top 3 guides. Â H e has guided for us twice...Deb and I. Â Worst thing that happened was Deb caught a 5 pounder and made her release it. Â They prefer we release anything over 4 pounds.
LOOKIN GOOD CB!

Re: Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
Oh, I forgot to add that Humberto has raised his prices again.
1/2 day fishing (6 hours) - $1100 pesos
Rooms - $550 per night

Re: Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
Next trip I'll get prices from Mario, Israel, and Consuelo. The room increase is the ist since he opened. He is the only one with adequate A/C. I think he is pretty much in line with the others on boat and guide. We do have the option staying @ Humberto's , and hiring Israel.......I think he is still under 800 pesos.
We can also fish 3 in a boat. When Deb and I took Roof Bob.......we all are pretty good with our bait casters and understood how to fish 3 in a boat with out ripping someones ear off with a "BAD CAST".
Gas prices are a killer for their biz. They work pretty independently, and haul their fuel from Tepic to the Lake........now as the Mexican Gov continues to increase tax causing current gas prices are hovering around $4.00 a gallon, while our prices here dropped to $1.899 here in Casa Grande.

Glad to hear the Lake is getting hot again. Seems like the fishing has been slow for quite some time. I need to get back to see if my boat is still there.

I believe your boat is still there Elgringo. I was ready to give up on Aguamilpa but after this trip I have changed my mind. We will probably go back in February or March. You should join us.

Re: Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
We are thinking of hitting Agua Milpa in December. We haven't been in 18 months. Anyone been there lately to offer a fishing report?

I was there about a month ago fishing with Israel. I was terrible but my two fishing companions did fine .
Three fish over 5 pounds (Israel has a digital fish scale). Released of course for you Bob.
Wacky rigs with green worms.

Sounds like it is worth going again. Thanks for chucking them back. Did you use your fancy fish finder?

Make me an offer over 20 pesos! Useless. I guess the only stupider people who buy endless gimmicks are golfers.

Re: Aguamilpa fishing report - Dec 2014
We have gotten our licenses on-line in the past.
https://www.sportfishingbcs.gob.mx/
It is an old unsecure site. I have no idea where to buy them at a brick and morter place.
