The basic minimum wage in Zone A for 2015 will be $70.10 pesos.
This number is used to calculate many things -- traffic fines, INM's minimum income requirements, and many other government services.

But nobody works for that little. BTW .... that is per day, not per hour

I know people in Chiapas who make a whole lot less than 70 pesos a day..more like 40 pesos a day so 70 ip would be a major raise.

The people in Chiapas working for 40pesos a day are being paid less than the current minimum wage. Doubtful that the law makes any difference to the people underpaying them now. Unless Chiapas is in a different, cheaper zone.

Yes I do not think the law makes a whole lot of difference when people are trying to scratch out a living they accept less and that is the end of the story. Many of them live with extended family, have a roof over their head and everyone pitch in , they have their chickens for meat once in a while and their eggs, grow the corn, beans and chilis and they work to get a little cash..pretty awful. They also getsome hep from SEDESOL and DIF.
Many of the women doing the wonderful weaving and embroideries make less than the minimum wage s well once they have paid for the material and going to town to sell their work , they do not have much left and there is no way they can make the 70 pesos an hour, that would put their goods way over what people will pay for.

I am going to guess that those who make less than $70 pesos per day are not working for someone but for themselves. I can't see any person or business hiring someone for that amount.
From what I see today, the minimum for most inside and outside workers is $50 per hour; but then I don't know all the occupations Mexicans have here.

I actually am clueless as to what Walmart or for that matter any other retail operation pays their workers, but I am told the baggers do not get paid and only get to keep the "tips" that they are given. I might think different levels of full-time workers get a different level of pay.
Maybe Jerry00 knows something about it directly so I can't challenge it.
Maybe the difference is that while a maid, gardener or general labor person works randomly, there is a value to have a guaranteed income when working regular hours/days, etc.
