DUTY FREE IS A JOKE OUT OF GDL
I bought my Deb a bottle of Don Julio 70 @ Liquor store next to Super Lake for 574 pesos. Price duty free was $72.00 USD at airport.
Just an FYI

duty free is very often more expensive , the rent at the airport is not cheap and they have a captive audience.

I've never seen value buying anything at an airport....
Except for the $8.00 beers I enjoy during layovers at Chicago, Denver, Phoenix... those are special!!

Yes duty free sucks mostly BUT an exception to the rule is for example taking the ferry from Seattle to Victoria. Booze is half what it is in the liquor stores in BC. Smokes save even more. We always bring a bottle to our friends on Vancouver island. So sometimes it is worth it but not often anymore.

I usually buy two 1Liter Baileys and consider it a Good Deal. This trip up I think I paid about $22/ea. In addition, buying at the airport they do not count toward your # of or baggage weight.

duty free is a rip off almost anywhere and not just airports. i found the prices to be the same or less in great falls montana than at the duty free at sweetgrass. you get a better selection and cheaper at paz liquors in san antonio than at the airport duty free. i guess the duty is even less at paz?-SNORK!

The New & Improved Baggage Rates Airlines are adopting might make the weight of your booze an important consideration

Re: DUTY FREE IS A JOKE OUT OF GDL
a coupla weeks ago we flew united to edmonton via sf. had no problema with weight either way. it was all check in and no carry on. as much as i don't like flying at all, until this flight westjet was my fave. i gotta say-united was totally problem free including very nice personnel[even customs and security] and just the right amount of time between changing planes in sf. a draught pilsener in the sf airport cost $10.29 usd though.
as usual we had mary at the travel agency in chapala do everything. nobody charged us anything extra fer luggage.
the only problem was the aduana at guad grabbing $80cdn worth of polish sausage off us and the 4 of them having some good dinners. actually i hope the pinche pendejos cooked the metwurst and smoked leberwurst and ruined it-SNORK!

¿Where do you think the Mexican "chorizo" and other Mexican produce that's sold in Canada comes from?

we and our friends have brought this deli stough down for years, always declaring it, and until now had no problem. all 4 of the pinche aduana employees saw some good food fer their dinner and took it because they can.
