Info to add to posts

It might be useful to be able to automatically post the users location when posting, a scrambled IP address and provider info such as telecable.net.mx or infinitum.telmex.mx. It seems that many boards have people with multiple personalities and others who post frequently who don't live lakeside or even at all in Mexico. This way people would know whose opinion is based on fact and living here in Mexico versus just stirring the pot or fantasy or their 4 day trip 3 years ago.

This board and the other have somewhat degraded with non resident experts and others who seem to only post to attack / harass others. It is getting silly and I think the posting on all the alternative boards is much lower while the so called "evil" board chapala.com is still going strong.

Just a suggestion.

Unfortunately many, including the locals, are using proxy servers. When I look at all the IP's they are coming from all over the world. Most are using them for security not to hide.

Crapola doesn't display IP's and have lots of sniping going on over there now a days. In fact I think they have lightened up quite a bit because of the success of our board.........

We just need to be vigilant and scare away the trolls.

Even putting the provider or location tells alot, i.e. nobody really spoofs their Mexican IP address, it will show telecable or telmex infinitum and therefore show who is a resident and who is a wannabe. This way you'd soon see patterns of who always uses a proxy, etc versus posters who live here and post about life here and post from a local ISP.

What kind of security does anyone need that they have to use a proxy server? I understand if you're trying to get Netflix, etc.

Anyone doing a lot of downloads (music, movies, etc,) should consider a proxy server. It makes it a wee bit harder for a hacker to get into your system.

Well there's no way to automate that on this forum. The best I could do is show the IP address which will only display the numerical address of where the server or proxy server is located.
