Eye doctor for cataract surgery
Is there any eye doctor that you would recommend for cataract surgery? I am going to be needing it soon, and I don't have any idea who to go to. Thanks for your help.

Try Dr. Rigoberto Rio Leon, an optothamologist (sp) who specializes in retinal disease. There's an article about him in this week's Guad Reporter.
He spent an hour with my wife checking her eyes on her first visit last week. Very thorough. Speaks fluent English. All the latest equipment in his office right on the carettera next to Charter Club Tours.

Re: Eye doctor for cataract surgery
I met with the ophthalmologist who comes in to Integrity clinic last November. He seemed quite competent, but there was not much hi-tech equipment in the office.
His main office is in Zapopan. He said that I would need surgery in 6 to 12 months, and the cost would be roughly 20,000 MXN per eye.
I opted to have the work down in Ontario during my current visit.
Long story short, I have been here 4 months plus, and surgery for the right eye was scheduled for last Monday (finally).
The surgery was cancelled due to equipment malfunction, and the new schedule does not meet my schedule.
I am coming home to Ajijic in October, and will be looking for a doctor to do the surgery in Mexico. (what I probably should have done in the first place.)
George, I would be very interested in knowing what Dr. Rigoberto is charging, and more importantly, what your wife's impression of him is.
Please PM me. Ivan
