SEND RAIN TO LAKESIDE
Nearly 4 inches of rain in Phoenix since 2 AM. Most freeways are closed in various locations into and out of the city. Who da thunk, school closures due to standing water up to 3 feet throughout the metro area.

We'll take it, we are well below average and the lake is still pretty low.

Lived in Phoenix and remember when monsoon season happened. Oy vey! We could sure use the rain here and more importantly in California where wildfires are blazing.

As you top the hill going to Guad, look at the rock face on the left. You will see some strange looking marks.
Those are lap marks where the lake was up that high at some point.
Be careful what you wish for............

Since that cut was made with machinery about 20 years ago, we're lucky any one is here.
Or maybe you saw the remains of Noah's arc a little further up the mountain.
A good one!!

Re: SEND RAIN TO LAKESIDE
The lake is currently at last years high water mark on the shoreline off the Ajijic malecon. If we get another couple of weeks of rain and they open the dam one more time we may just surpass last year by a small bit.
Re: SEND RAIN TO LAKESIDE
Lake Chapala is believed to be approximately 11 million years old.
Originally it was seven times its present size and filled the entire Lerma Valley to the East.
Even up to the end of the 1890's it was 100 kilometers wide until it was dammed and drained in the east end to create additional farmland for the large Hacienda owners of the day.
The history of the Lake is quite fascinating. For example its significance to the First Nations peoples.

If you look back far enough, all the area that is now Guad was covered with water.
Go look way up near the top of the cut. I think those are lap marks.
If it would rise about 50', I could fish off my deck in Villa Nova. I can't cast quite far enough at todays level.
