So sad. He was battling depression and yet made so many people laugh and be happy.

I just can't believe he's gone. I don't think I've ever watched him that he didn't make me laugh. I guess he could make everyone happy but himself.

I was a huge fan of Robin Williams...

An interesting note... Rodney Dangerfield was said to have battled Depression most of his life.

Maybe they used Humor to hide personal demons...

My favorite Robin Williams story is during Mork and Mindy he always talked out of the closet on stage that the live audience couldn't see. Mindy use to open the door and sometimes he was naked. Can you imagine trying not to laugh in front of a live audience?

I met him a few times in San Francisco and he was one of the nicest man.
He was a terrific dramatic actor. I loved him in Insomnia. So much talent. Such a shame that depression got the best of him.

Like everyone else, Robin Williams made me laugh, but in a different way than most comics/comedians do. He could find facets of humor in me that no one else could.
But my favorite role that I will remember him for because it was such a departure from comedy and showed  me his true genius, was his character as a psychotic killer in the film with Al Pacino, Insomnia
We won't see likes of him again.

In one of the clips I saw today, he said he was trained as an actor. When he was starting out and couldn't get acting roles, he turned to comedy.

The scene in Moscow on the Hudson where he is a defected Russian orchestra musician looking at all the choices for coffee in a supermarket and he freaks out shows what an actor he turned out to be. I have had many folks from ex soviet block who saw the film and commented to me on how they felt the same in the west at first. He did a damn good Teddy in the museum movies also that impressed me. I really do feel sad like I lost something when he died.

Yeah... so many different scenes flash through my head when I think of him.  In The Fisher King, he and Jeff Bridges lying naked in Central Park star gazing.  Robin looked like he had a fur coat on!''

I remember an interview about Ms. Doubtfire.  He said the only one he didn't fool was his then toddler son.  He took a look and said.."Daddy..come out!!"

I don't remember anyone ever having something bad to say about him.  All of his demons were inside.  If his death puts more attention on depression..then maybe at least one good thing will come of this.  He had an amazing life..but it still wasn't enough to protect him.

Quote from Ex wife says he has early Parkinson syptoms. More sadness just too much for him I guess.

Robin spent so much of his life helping others. Whether he was entertaining millions on stage, film or television, our troops on the frontlines, or comforting a sick child — Robin wanted us to laugh and to feel less afraid."

"Since his passing, all of us who loved Robin have found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration for him from the millions of people whose lives he touched. His greatest legacy, besides his three children, is the joy and happiness he offered to others, particularly to those fighting personal battles."

"Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly."

It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid."
