Angelica´s Bistro Empty Angelica´s Bistro

Finally, a really excellent and memorable meal in a Lakeside restaurant. Not that I haven´t had few good meals around here recently most notably at Laurent´s as contrasted with many disappointments locally. Yesterday we had lunch at Angelica´s Bistro and had, as a result, the first really outstanding Italian style food ever at Lakeside and we have been here ten years. I had the fettucini with pesto crudo and grilled shrimp and my wife had Angelica´s salad also with grilled shrimp. On both dishes, the servings of very tasty shrimp were generous. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and the whole meal including two glasses of house wine, came to $195 Pesos which was a hell of a deal. Contrast that with the bland and overall disappointing meal we had at the once-fine seafood restaurant Tabarka the other night where I had broiled(tough and tasteless) scallops and an appetizer of broiled calamari and my wife had the tangerine shrimp and we each had a couple of drinks and paid $510 Pesos for a skimpy and tasteless meal. My wife´s shrimp plate with tangerine sauce alone came to $140 Pesos for five small shrimp or $28 Pesos (about $2.33 US) per shrimp cooked in an uninspired sauce accompanied by a few marinated red peppers which were OK but not what I would call a great challenge .

I hope Tabarka can get its act back together or that we simply went there on an off night. Until (and probably after) then, we highly recommend Angelica´s Bistro for great bistro style food.

Dawg - Congrats on posting a good review of the "best" Italian restaurant at Lakeside. I've always replied to other posters on forums that this is the best one. Pedro is Italian and has a Mexican wife. He puts La Taverna to shame.

I'm surprised you don't remember him or his restaurant called La Traviata where Roberto's is now within 9 years ago.

Our small group of 6 used to make it a ritual to eat there every Sunday night. Same great food and prices. Our friends always order the Fettucine with Pesto Crudo.

The pesto crudo is all I ever order there & it's my favorite. Also, the waitress is wonderful. Great food, good prices.
