Age restrictions on getting/having a driver's license in Jalisco
I'm not 80 yet, but working on it ....
this is a question about a friend who is 80 (and her husband) who recently had an attorney get new driver's licenses for them.
The attorney told them that in Jalisco persons 80 or older could not renew their licenses, but that the attorney 'knew' how to get the license renewed. The couple did get renewed licenses and are driving.
I have a few questions ....
Is there a regulation in the State of Jalisco that restrictions license renewal based on age?
If there is, then is there a 'legal' way around it?
If there is a age restriction and the couple got their renewed licenses under 'less than appropriate' circumstances, I'm wondering what would happen if they were in an auto accident and damaged property or a person. Would their insurance still cover the accident? Would there be greater penalties by the State of Jalisco for damages to property or a person?
Anyone have any experience with this issue, either personally or second-hand?

Interesting if you cannot renew your licence after 80 how could they justify the driver´s license past age 80?
By the way in Chiapas we can get and my husband has a permanent license so that would mean he could be driving past age 80 but someone from Jalisco could not? That is a little weird no?

My quick review of the law showed nothing mentioning maximum age, I wonder if it was a scam, wives tale or misinformation?

My friends were told this rationale .....and that this rationale would be given to the traffic department issuing the driver's license, (and what pictures were used and what signatures since the couple never went to the office?),
"the persons over 80 would not be driving, but would each have a drivers license and would be in the car. In order for them to have a driver, they needed to have a Jalisco State Driver's license and that's the reason for requesting the renewal."
The couple said that they did not know how this 'worked' but that it worked and they got their driver's licenses.....without going to the traffic office..... and they 'trust' their attorney for everything.
I'm doing more checking as something 'smells.'
I just got my license renewed and had to go to the office for a photo and signatures before getting a new laminated driver's license, making it impossible for a facilitator to have done the work without me being present .... hmmmm.
This place is ripe for a scam a minute!

Law offices obtaining driver's licenses for clients

This is addressed to Spencer and anyone else who either provides services to obtain a Jalisco State Driver's license or who has obtained one through a facilitator or law office.
I just renewed my Jalisco driver's license.
I got into the 'traffic' office with all of my correct paperwork, paid the $430 (or $420) due for renewals and then returned to the traffic office. It was necessary for me to sign my paperwork there, have my photo taken by the 'traffic' office and then wait a short time for them to complete the document and laminate it.
I could see where a 'facilitator' could complete the paper preparation and make the payment, but the signatures and photo had to be done at the 'traffic' office in order for the laminated license to be completed. Or, was there another way to get this done?
Comments ....
Thanks!

'sitting ducks'
oh dear....I forgot the fingerprints!
I'm now wondering if this older-than 80 couple have legal driver's licenses ... and what happens if they get into an auto accident which either of them cause!
The attorney doing this 'facilitation' is very popular here in town; nice!
I wonder how many of these they have done!!
Thanks for the input!
