Is today a holiday? Gas guys and water trucks are not coming around like normal, garbage guys are late or they're not coming. . .

Re: Holiday?
So, it's Good Friday? That's what it is, the village is not normal hustle-bustle today. Thanks, Viajero.

Re: Holiday?
As with most Fridays around here, it is a good day, but "Good Friday" is not until April 18th this year.Trailrunner wrote:So, it's Good Friday? That's what it is, the village is not normal hustle-bustle today. Thanks, Viajero.
Have a good Friday.

Re: Holiday?
So, it is a good Friday but not Good Friday.
Although the Catholic Church gave up the no-meat-on-Friday rule years ago, they do suggest meat-less Fridays during Lent. Maybe carnicerias close to "lead them not into temptation."
Honestly, what wimps modern Catholics are! We grew up in the era of, "If you forget it is Friday and eat a hot dog at the baseball game and get killed by a car walking home afterwards, you will burn in hell for all eternity. So, do not forget, Missy."
I have often wondered whatever happened to all those Friday-hot-dog-eating-condemned-souls-writhing-in-hell when the church said, "Ooooops, never mind. Our bad. Hot dogs all around!" Did they get paroled?

Re: Holiday?
We have not seen garbage guys for two days. To much fun on Fat Tuesday and no one showed up to work on Wednesday and they are behind??? Just a guess.

Re: Holiday?
It's a Mexican Miracle! All 3 of 3 things happened! New maid showed up, water guys showed, and the basura has flown the coop. Not bad, indeed it is a good Friday - However, not Good Friday! Thanks for the info and the smile, Zenwoodle!
HAHAHAHA Lady, I too remember all to well being forced to eat Mahi Mahi on Fridays! What a hardship that was! lol I also wondered about all those poor souls that ate a burger on Friday in those old days. . . They must be going to a special place - like the place where all those people who smoked a joint and went to jail in Washington and Colorado etc will be going. . .
PS: Tony's is open, wonder where he will be going. . .

Re: Holiday?
Two days ago was Ash Wednesday and I had a friend who wiped a black smudge off of a neighbor kid's forehead much to the mother's chagrin. No meat day. Then today I had a fish taco which wasn't bad at all. Adapt is the word of the day.

Re: Holiday?
Well the church bells have been ringing like crazy for the past hour and lots of cohetes being shot off in central Ajijic. My calendar shows no holidays.
WTF?

Re: Holiday?
Monday is the celebration of the birth day of Benito Juarez (national holiday).
Maybe they are celebrating the beginning of a puente.

Isn't that the 17th when LCS is closed. Monday is the 10th.

Re: Holiday?
The 17th is St. Patrick's day I believe. Closing LCS on any holiday is like shutting down the restaurants.

You are absolutely correct Zed....I'm off a whole week.
There is NO EXCUSE for celebrating.... .
