Anyone gone on the Copper Canyon tour? Was it a tour or on your own?

Lydia has a Copper canyon Tour coming up. You should take a look at that!

Re: Copper Canyon Tour
The Copper Canyon tour is always by train with stops in various places. It would not be difficult to do it yourself.
Get your seats on the right side of the train going from Los Mochis as that is the scenic side.
You can leave the train and reboard at a later date.
It is a great trip.

Re: Copper Canyon Tour
is it safe? We looked at going a few years ago and decided against it because it wasn't safe to travel in there. Believe me, we've been plenty of places it isn't/wasn't safe.

Re: Copper Canyon Tour
We drove down to Creel about 12 years ago at Christmas time. They had a snow storm - 18" of snow - and several of the roads into the canyon were closed. We drove down to Urique (road was rough but we had a all-wheel drive Subaru and had no problems) and had a wonderful time.
Talk to Libbly Townsend and see what her idea of the safety factors is. A tour on the train would not be nearly as much fun as hiking around the bottom of the canyon, but seems like it would be safe.

Isn´t it interesting that it is always people who have not be to a place that claim it is unsafe.
Now if someone who was there tells me it is unsafe I would listen otherwise I would go on with my plans.

Re: Copper Canyon Tour
I'm asking because idk. Would like to go if someone has been there recently. We'd take the train. You should know me better just by reading my posts that i know how to read the news in Spanish. We have friends living in Los Mochis and other friends that had incidents that happened a few years back. If i'm gong on vaca, i want to relax not be on high alert and wonder if i'll come out alive...been on plently of those trips. Hah!
