Los Amigos de La Penita - Fiesta 2011

La Peñita de Jaltemba is a small town just north of Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific Coast. Along with Guyabitos and Los Ayala, it forms part of the larger community of Jaltemba Bay. The spectacular beach in Guayabitos is known as the largest wading pool in the world.

We would like to welcome you to come visit our community and want to provide you with an opportunity to support a group of local residents who are working hard to improve the lives of the citizens of the area.

Los Amigos de La Peñita is a community service organization comprised of both permanent and seasonal residents.

We are involved in a wide variety of community projects. We are working with parents to undertake a number of building and maintenance projects designed to improve the condition of local schools. We have also created a scholarship fund to finance tuition for students, started a campaign to beautify our local beach; created a successful plastic recycling program, worked with other community partners leaders to help fund and build a children’s park and have recently created an economic development committee to help bring new jobs to the area/

Our major fundraiser for the year - “Fiesta La Peñita” will be held on Sunday, January 30 from 1:00 to 5:00 at the award-winning home of Thomas Bartlett in La Peñita.

This extravaganza will include an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Entertainment will feature live music and dancing from a variety of musicians. There will be live and silent auctions, as well as a new Chinese auction - all featuring a host of valuable items. Tickets will be available for a donation of 750 pesos per person.

Welcome aboard. I have spent time in both Guyabitos and La Penita. My Dad spends every winter in that area. Very nice towns.
