Shouldn't this heading reads some thing like American last seen in Morelia - instead of please read.

"In a statement Saturday, a U.S. State Department spokesperson confirmed that a U.S. citizen was reported missing near Morelia, Michoacan"

In my opinion, the "please read" heading should be used sparingly - and apply to locals and people on this webboard.

I am sorry that he is missing - in another state

I saw a news clip on the news last eve, maybe CNN, and it said an American man is missing in Mexico, and the mother was crying and pleading to find her son. I got PISSED off because where the hell in Mexico was he supposed to be? Last seen in Chihuahua? Yucatan? Taumalipas?

Texted his girl friend on Jan 25 from" a dangerous area in Michoacan where there was a lot of military (on his way to Zihuatanejo) "He said he was told the next town also would have a bunch of army. It wa 3.18 pm, he told his girl friend he would go to an internet cafe that evening. Never reapeared.
He was concerned by what he had seen..he could also have been on a back road and had an accident.so who knows what happened.

Awful. Hopefully he's ok.

It would be interesting to know why an American is traveling in such a dangerous area alone !
