Outcome
Axixic:
So what was the outcome in your case (if you don't mind saying)?

Fastfox:
How about you getting back to us after you have 7 to 10 years of actual living experience in Mexico and tell us all just how well "creative and critical thinking" has worked out for you! You have residents of Mexico with varying degrees of actual experience in Mexico that are trying to assist you by answering your original question and you seem to want to argue with their opinions. You may wish to remember that you have only asked a few questions so far and these are the same people you might be asking more questions of. Disputing answers based upon actual experience living in Mexico probably will get you fewer and fewer answers down the road.

I pay my rent monthly, as the landlord preferred.Fastfox wrote:Axixic:

It isn't a major issue or anything. I suggested prepayment merely for my own convenience as I pay my rent in US currency and getting the US cash together each month requires two trips to the one ATM in town that will dispense it. (Two trips IF it is working, obviously more if it is not.)
I anticipated this as more of a hassle than it has turned out to be so I am okay abiding by the landlord's preference (whatever the reason for that preference may be.)

Re: Rental Leases
I think prepayment could solve the issue but then there is the other issue of the utility companies (electric, phone, internet, etc) putting service in the name of an entity not registered in Mexico, registration would be probably not be cost effective unless the property in question was maybe US 2,000 or more and the lease was for a few years.

Re: Rental Leases
Can a expat pay in cash? (dollars or pesos) Some landlords ask for this. Is a bank check better? A U.S.A. check? I assume if you have reciepts cash would be fine. Thank you in advance.

All methods you mentioned are possible and doable...and equal, if handled accordingly, with the concurrence of both parties. The key item for the lessee, is the reciept.
