Car Wax....Really

Can anyone recommend a good wax....The last 3 times I had my truck waxed, water didn't even bead on the hood! Please provide name of a good detail shop! Seems like they might be using watered down Turtle Wax....LMAO.

The guys on the street use wipe on wipe off stuff while it offers
some protection it doesn't look like the rub dry and wipe stuff
I am use to.

If you want a qualioty job, go to Fernando's next to the Junky Monkey. He can either detail the entire vehicle or provide a paste wax job or anything you like.

Don't use those bozos on the street. I don't let them was my 14 year old Explorer with dirty sandy water.

He should know. That's his business. Also, if you wash your car with harsh detergents, you will take any wax off.

Since you are one of the brave ones willing to drive into Guadalajara - why not stop at an Auto Zone and purchase the very best wax they offer? From there, take said wax to one of the reputable detail guys and make sure that is what they use on your vehicle. Many of the better waxes also make a car wash product designed to be used with their wax.

Thanks Zed, price isn't the issue....paying for a good wax job @ a body shop, only to discover problem...sucks! Maybe my expectations are to high....I expect a wax job to last 5-6 months?

Just a word of support for Meguiars products.
I found over the years as an owner of a marine service centre on the Canadian west coast that for the harsh saltwater environment and severe sun exposure that our customer's experienced in that location, Meguiars stood up best. They have a large selection of products and their color restorer along with their waxes are the ones that we eventually sold and used in our own boat detailing, of course we mostly saw fiberglass boats but the products worked great in some of the worst conditions.

Can it be the same wax that the one the equipal guys are using? I asked them what type of wax they were using on the leather chair to clean them and they said something like carnuba. If it is possible the equipal guys next to the old junky Monkey use to have some. They would know where to get it.

Best way, have me buy you wax here at Autozone in Guad and pay your gardener to apply it.

For oil changes, Costco has synthetic Castrol oil 5 liters for a little over 400 pesos, Fram filter a bit under 100 at Autozone and a local mechanic charges 50 pesos to change the oil, a good deal all the way around to maintain your car properly.

I used Fernando's to detail or small Acura two months ago. He did a great job for 900 mp.

alot of classic car owners use meguires and some of the guys that i know have paint jobs alone that cost 10-15 grand, and they trust meguires. Another good product is the turtle wax scratch remover. I used it when i had my 79 trans am and it made the 15 yr. old paint look like new, and beaded the water really well. Just drop me a line if you want some help with your car.

depends on the size of car! LOL!! Yeah, you should, just make sure you wash it REALLY well first, so you dont rub any dirt into the paint. My last car, the 1959 pontiac was a boat, and i got 5-6 wax jobs out of one tin, and it was 18ft. long and had maybe 25 year old paint.

Neil... Thanks for the tip about Meguiar's wax. I've been using their wheel cleaner product to remove the "brake dust" build up for years.

Trevor, I am in AZ., now. Which maguires do you recommend? Paste runs $25.00, liquid is less quantity, $14.00?
