Any one know of some good eye specialists here in Ajijic? My wife needs cataract surgery. Will we have to go to Guad?

Go to Dr. Pinto or Dr. Luz at LCS. They will know.

Dr, Pinto couldn't even diagnose cataracts in my husbands case. Time for a Guadalajara specialist. Dra. Laura Choza, or Dr Padilla.

Dra. Choza, phone 01 333 615-2016.

For Dr, Padilla, check TOB. He's a bit harder to get to, but people seem to like him.

IMO, you will have to go to Guad.

I agree - do not go to a lakeside eye doctor. I won't go into the horror stories told to me by friends of mis-diagnoses of serious eye problems by several lakeside eye doctors. I agree with ferret - get to a good one in Guadalajara. I have a good glaucoma specialist who speaks excellent English. Don't know if he does cataract surgery but I would look for someone who had the surgery and a good outcome to find a doctor.

That was Raqueteer who made the suggestions.
I also appreciate her input.

Follow up, my husband had to have another procedure done after cataract surgery. The first eye was fine, the second one went a bit cloudy. Today he had a capsulotomy, 15 minutes total including the exam and the procedure, for which there was no charge. These are necessary in 30 to 40% of patients after cataract surgery.

Dra. Choza.
