Yeah I know. I have to sell my baby when we move down in a couple of years. It's too bad cause it would be a blast driving from the lake to the coast on those beautiful toll highways...........

If it was me, I'd bring it.

I had a Toyota Yaris 2door hatchback back in Calif. It was great for 1 person, but as many of the reviews I read stated, the interior is plastic plastic plastic and really shows dirt, scuff marks, etc plus I never got used to the center mounted instrument cluster. I believe in Mexico one can only get the 4door version, which I think is on a different chassis.
Anyway, the bugger did scoot, as my citation for 86mph in a 55 zone on Interstate 5 proved.
I did test drive the Fit and liked it, but it was too much car, too much money for 1 person.
All the Fit owners I have talked with like them.
My priority for Mexico would be to get the largest diameter wheels available, even if it is a pricey option. Small wheels and topes do not go well together.

I would really love to David however I doubt I could get insurance for it down there and I can't afford to have it wreaked or stolen. Unfortunatley it's value needs to be part of my "retirement" portfolio.

Si, claro. BTW, what engine does it have? I had a '62, 327 4bbl.

It is the 360hp/327 fuelie, 4spd. All numbers match, restored to original condition. Have you ever seen any C2 Corvettes (63'-67') around there?

Weep, but sell it. "Gone in 60 seconds" ring a bell there?

I saw a 65 some time back, last fall I think. A group from Guadalajara cruised thru with some pretty nice rides.

Re: Getting a car...
I drove a brand new '66 Vette for 9 years until I killed it. One of the things I learned is that paying for it was the easy part; keeping the damn thing on the road was what kept me broke. But is was such a great pick up machine -- and I don't mean pickup.
Re: Getting a car...
You got that right Rolly. They do require a lot of maintenence. That's actually what I enjoy about them. I love wrenching on cars. They're a pretty good investment now a days if you can fix em yourself. A 66' in nice original condition is worth about 75K. Fully restored it can fetch 100K+ depending on the motor and options.
