Passed My AMIB certification test

Here in Mexico there is no licensing scheme like in other first world countries where a government agency regulates a certain profession and disciplines those who harm clients.

One thing that is arising is the requirement in certain industries to belong to a professional organization as a prerequisite to being able to work. In the Mexican Banking and Investment industry that group is the Mexican Association of Financial Intermediaries (AMIB).

Their process is having you take an ethics class and test and then apply to take the test for your field, mine is mortgage.

Then they check your credit report to make sure you aren't a cockroach who pays late or is a flake and then you get your certification. As the group is all over Mexico if a person misbehaves they are kicked out of the group which effectively bars them from working in the industry in the whole country.

Friday I took a very, very hard exam and did well, I passed it. I turned in my credit report and documents and will have a certification allowing me to do transactions with banks which will be mandatory in 2012. I'm probably the only person in the Chapala area who has passed this test. The people working in the banks (executives) have passed a similar test (promotor de valores) by the same professional group (AMIB).
