How to get personal documents back. from a fraud

This woman accepted my last birth certificate, claiming her husband could get me a gun permit but price was too high and she wont return it. Do I need a lawyer?

So you thought that you could fraudulently get a gun permit and avoid the inconvenience of getting one legally and someone may have scammed you and possibly stolen your identity.
Sucks to be you.

She doesn’t have it anymore. It has already been sold.

Maybe just offer advice to this person, or ignore her, instead of piling on, eh? This is NOT TOB.

I don’t know about this one. They joined the board and posted at 2:21 a.m. about possible I.D. theft committed while they were trying to illegally obtain a gun. Unless we are totally misunderstanding the o.p.?

Perhaps there are more details to the story.

Just maybe, this woman and her husband were just acting as facilitators for a non Spanish speaking person and the price was too high , for the liaison activity and not fraud.  ¿ Quién sabe ?

Very sketchy information. Birth certificates can be replaced cheaper than hiring a lawyer.
