Compestre Aleman - Erongaricuaro, Michoacan

We traveling from Guadalajara to Patzcuaro, we made a point of taking a route that took us down the west side of Lake Patzcuaro to have lunch at the highly recommended Compestre Aleman restaurant. The restaurant is located on the Patzcuaro side of the town and about 14km from Patzcuaro. Most restaurant review sites will include this restaurant in their Patzcuaro section. We had never visited there before and were we ever surprised by this "slice of Bavaria" sitting in the State of Michoacan.

As you will see in the photos, it is a great setting with a German menu. Kathy had trout cooked in butter and I had saurbraten pork. Both entrees were excellent but a bit more than we typically eat for lunch.
