Shaky picture on Shaw

I am experiencing some problems with Shaw, and am wondering if the problem is in my equipment or with Shaw. On several channels the picture is very inconsistent, shaking and flickering, not on all. Anyone else having these problems?

No problems here. What is your signal strength on those channels?

I have noticed when using the older 500 series receiver that I could still get the HD programming because it is still MPEG-2 but the signal seemed a little weaker than before. Yet the signal coming from the same quad LNB pointed at a 75 E Shaw Dish to my slightly newer 600 series receiver did not show as weak a signal.

The 500 series is going away and you will no longer be able to receive t.v. Some of the channels are already being turned off. We just had the 600 series installed yesterday and the picture is fabulous.

After making my post, I called and talked to Mike Merryman of Satellite Systems. He reminded me that the 600 could pick up a weaker signal than the 500 series so as the signal gets weaker, perhaps because of cloudy weather the 600 series is more sensitive to a weak signal and will not loose the signal as soon if at all.

Of course, once Shaw Direct upgrades to MPeg-4 from MPeg-2 the 600 will continue to work while the 500 series receiver can not and there will be no screen showing none of the programming. And if anything there will be a message saying you need to upgrade your receiver

Right. Mike Merryman ordered our receivers and his men installed them yesterday. We have 2 of them. Perfect and brilliant picture.

Ajijic Electronics took my box and did a complete reset - this seems to have fixed the problem, hope it stays fixed.
