Fascinating new pain med...

Okay, this is why I find it fascinating. In the search for a pain med that worked, my Hubby's pain specialist in Guadalajara stated that Mexicans are far more tolerant to pain than gringos. Capsaicin, an ingredient found in chilis, is consumed by Los Mexicanos daily. This medicine is an equivilant engineered in a lab.
And, if it works for knee pain, why wouldn't it work for any other kind of pain?

Oh I totally agree with that Gringal. But I can tell you that there are some small yellow chilis that are grown in Israel that make your lips go numb and give you ring of fire for a few days after. I have great respect for chilis.

The odd thing is that chili tolerance can change over time.  My husband used to be able to eat piles of jalapenos with his co-workers in his youth: not any more.  Me; just a chili wuss and always have been.  A friend gave me a palate saving tip when we were served a dish past my limits:  crema often saves the day.  

Yes, casein in dairy products cuts the capsaicin. I find that the more often you eat hot stuff the greater tolerance you get.

I love jalapenos and tolerate them well. Love going to Costco and getting a hotdog with mustard, onions and a PILE of jalapenos. Everybody's tolerance is different though.

This came across my Facebook memories for this day today this morning.  I posted it 4 years ago.   Did you know red pepper relieves pain while black pepper can exacerbate pain especially joint. Also bell peppers and acid foods cause joint pain; mucus forming foods grains, meat and dairy.   Water therapy relieves joint pain. I walk to relieve joint pain and avoid black pepper, cooked tomatoes, meat and dairy.

Red pepper has been used for pain relief for generations.

Pharmacuticals made a synthetic version. Big pharma can't make money on what God made in nature to help and heal us. Big pharmaceutical companies make their man made versions to make money for themselves.
