I need to get one tooth implant. I was quoted $15,000 pesos. I am interested in hearing what others have paid, by whom and your level of satisfaction.

I had a quote a few months ago for $10,000. I haven't decided yet between and implant or a bridge. Dr. Barrigan.

Had one done a year ago. About 12,000 all in if I remember correctly.

Dr Candy. See her big ad in this month's OJO.

I recommend her for dental scardy cat, wimps like me.

Do the implant. A bridge is such a PIA long term.

I totally agree with SunFan. I had a bridge and it caused more problems. Finally had implants done and everything has been hunky-dory ever since. Dr. Haro's office and, sorry, but I don't remember the cost and can't look it up because I lost some important documents in a flood recently.
BTW, all the problems were caused by a wisdom tooth that suddenly decided to make it's presence known at age 55. It was growing sideways and pushed teeth out of alignment. Damn wisdom teeth...never had any and never saw any on an x-ray before that time. Never say never.

Dra. Candy is my dentist and the one who quoted me $15,000. Seems the higher USD has pushed the price up. She said it will be even more if the USD rises further.

Bob, check with Dr. Eloy Barragán at his Chapala Dental Care Clinic in Mirasol and get a price from them. They are the best dental clinic I've seen anywhere! Everyone who works there is excellent.

I think your quote is high, but of course, everything in Ajijic is a bit higher in price than other places around the lake.

The only problem with Dr Barragan is his waiting line is so long.
He & Dr Edgar are definitely worth the wait, but sometimes it can take a couple months to get an appointment.
Guess that goes to show how popular he is.

Post by ferret Thu Jul 14, 2016 11:50 am

Dr. Barragan was my Dentist and it was he that gave me the bridge that caused so many problems.
I had expected to get the implants done there but balked when he told me that I would have to have a bone graft done first. He assumed, incorrectly, that because I was over 60 at the time that I must have osteoporosis. I don't. As a matter of fact, the specialist that Dr. Haro's office brought in to do the implants had to practically kneel on my chest because the bone was so hard.
Having a bone graft done would have delayed the whole process by another 9 months to "take". Bone grafts are done with specially processed cadaver bone...as in "not yours". I already have one auto immune disease and did not want to take any chances with something else that was foreign in my body.
Everybody's different and does what's correct for themselves. I'm happy.

I have had Dra. Consuelo do everything I've needed so far with virtually no wait. I really like her. Don't know if she does implants though.

I've had some bad experiences there so they are not on my short list. I was told that I had to wait 3 months after extraction and no longer than 6 months if I want an implant.

CBob my friend had several implants done by Dr. Candy and they all failed - fell out. She ended up going to a dentist in Guadalajara and was very happy along with the price was less.

I lost a tooth and go to Dr. Baragan. He gave me a choice of an implant or a bridge. I didn't have enough bone and would need a bone graft first so I opted for the bridge. Very happy with the bridge, but don't remember the prices. I've been to most dentists lakeside and my opinion is he is the best.

Since the extracted tooth is not visible when I smile I may opt to do nothing and spend the $15000 on something a little more fun.

BTW - Dr Edgar is my periodontist and did my extraction & bridge. I called for an appt. mid-June, but he was booked for next 2 months. I told them I would be back in Ajijic on July 11th and to put me on the list for cancellations. They called yesterday with an appt. for today, so you don't always have to wait 2 months.

No rush if not visible

The only problem with leaving the space is that remaining teeth can begin to lean into the space, throwing your bite off. This can lead to other problems down the road. May be a case of centavo wise and peso foolish.

Lady Otter Latte, you're so right. Over the years, I've ended up having half my teeth extracted. It didn't seem to be a problem for a long time, but now, my remaining teeth have greatly separated, and moved forwards and backwards. I'm at the point where I can't chew many things sufficiently to be able to swallow them without choking. I think that my only option at this point is to have the remaining teeth removed and get a complete set of dentures.....I'd need so many teeth that dental implants would not be financially possible anymore! In Canada, I was quoted a price of $100,000 CDN to get 15 implants done. Down here, it seems as though I'd still have to pay about $20-30k CDN to get the teeth I need! I certainly can't afford to do that!!!
I advise anyone who only has a few teeth missing to fix them now by getting implants, before it's too late!

Here is another option for total dentures and this article explains why.
My internet service has sucked lately so I apologize for the delay. Basically, these FULL dentures are placed permanently on implants but not a lot of implants are necessary...
http://dentures.net/implant-supported.html

I would imagine that the same principal applies to all replacement teeth.
Definitely worth inquiring about.

Two years ago, had a crown fall off due to problem under it. Dr. Eloy took digital images, extracted the bad remnant, took the impression for bridge, shaped anchor teeth, and spent two hours fitting the bridge. Four appointments. Total 2014 price was between US$600-800. My US dentist was/is impressed with the work.

I would definitely go to Dr. Haro if I get a dental implant and would like to wait till the zirconia implants are available here. I'd settle for a flexi hahaha I'd actually like to never sit in a dental chair ever again!!! Except to get my teeth cleaned.

Really? I may have check into that, thank you. So is the $15,000 that CBob is being quoted for a zirconia implant? I checked around to a few places last fall and was told no. In fact, one dentist told me they didn't exist.
