New Special Forces and Czar arrives today in Jalisco

Is this Phase 2 underway? I am not sure how this will play out but it probably doesn't hurt to stay on our toes. The links below basically lead to the follow up story to the May 1 blockades. The stories outline Mexico's response, which has declared the Nuevo Generation a national threat and have appointed Jalisco its own Special force similar to the one in Michoacan. For those who do not read Spanish, the special force arrived today. The updated USA travel warning today has changed its tone somewhat. They seem to expect trouble for all. Stay alert.

There is a pretty heavy Federale presence in PV at the moment including a heavily armed Federale helicopter flying around. I haven't seen any military at all.

Three Army convoy trucks loaded passed thru Ajijic this afternoon heading East. Quien Sabe?

Here is the profile of the new guy in town. This sort of spin doctoring is fairly new for Mexico, at least for internal politics, it'll be interesting to watch it play out.

Other opinion of what is coming

I drove up to Autlan on business this morning, that area starting to look like a staging area for an military offensive. Hundreds of federal police and military in the municipal area, helicopters landing in the sports complex. My bet is the government will begin "operation Jalisco" soon and with full force. The cartel will respond with more diversions of the type seen last week.
