lake Chapala and clean water

I read an interesting article in the Guadalajara Reporter from the April 25/2014 edition entitled "How Clean is Lake Chapala" - I too was under the impression the lake was filthy - apparently it is not. Describing it as having a lower bacterial count then beaches in California. I was surprised, one of the best things I have heard about the lake.

That is good to know, because when my dog plays in the lake she has a weird smell for a while.

Glad to hear that bacteria counts and burglaries are worse NOB. Sure changes my outlook on these matters.

that's old news. some of us swim in it and have even swallowed the water.
the only thing that would make a dog smell is the mud[at present] before you get in the lake proper-not the lake.

Omg that first picture Pedro posted...I caNtstop laughing. It looks like everyone sank up to their knees and elbows in the mud. There is even a scantily clad person trying to pull someone out off to the right of the picture. Looks like they all made it though. Good Sports, the lot of them.
I kayak and swim in the water too, the lake is very shallow now even out close to the middle. Anyway, I don't have any water borne cooties that I am aware of.
