Had to give it a try today; fish and chips on special for $55 between 1 and 3 or something... I will have to try something else to see if it's worth going back. The fish (fairly small portion, but not a bad size for 55p) was soggy and oily in a very weird batter; probably dorado, which was cooked inside but wet with grease and water, no flakiness at all. The chips that came were obviously from a bag of frozen, and again were cooked, but sad and mushy.

Just to be adventurous, I tried their "Portobello cheese" appetizer for $40. Sad is a word I would use again. Oh, it tasted okay, but the mushroom was flat, probably nuked, and the cheese was two slices of white processed something-or-other laid on top, and not even melted... just sort of... warmed. This is not something that should be served or even offered if they want you coming back.

Service was fine, if impersonal. I notice they tried to make the plates look fancier by dribbling sauces in a decorative manner. One problem with that was they laid the chips on top of the home-made (decent) tartar sauce.

Well, you know how everyone is always saying "they coulda been having an off day" or "maybe that's not the best meal to make a judgment on"... but after discovering that their soft drinks are 20 pesos each, I'm thinking the quality of their food should really be better, and nah, maybe I won't go back.

No way. Never, never. Not after the description of that fish and chips.
Not in an area where I can get GOOD fish and chips up on the Libramento at Lake Taco or at a sit down white tablecloth place like the Nueva Posada as one of their weekday specials.

Bad day? Hey, you're a generous soul, HG. Very Happy

I hear that the reason they have a fish and chips special this month is because some gringo told them that's what we all love, and that would bring in business. Seems to me you should know how to cook a dish before you adopt a plan like that. Not even going to debate whether that's what we all love.

It occurs to me that they also did not give me the month-of-May 10% discount advertised in the paper. My bad for forgetting to ask for something they should have brought up themselves. Yves has 10% every Monday... he doesn't forget even one day a week.

Yves knows how to run a restaurant, and he'll stay in business.

Do agree....had a steak there Sat. night and it was as good as or better than Tango's or Vicki's....My two favorite restaurants.
