Re: PRE CHRISTMAS AQUA MILPA FISHING TRIP DEC. 19-21
Agua Milpa is catch & release (keep 2) Great fishing with guides. I have been with my rig, but a very busy lake, with water taxis, fishing rigs. It is a long lake(in Mexico called "presas" when they are man made with dams)
I personaly prefer to Bass fish other "Presas" without guides. There are some big beautiful "Presas" 3-4 hrs from Guadalajara. After the commercial fisherman complete "running their nets" around 10am, I am usually the only boat on the Lake. But, this is very slow fishing compared to Agua Milpa.
At Agua Milpa the numbers caught are unbelievable. But, I like the process
of searching and being alone with my wife(usually outfishes me) Agua Milpa has lodges & food services and where I go is remote & overnite in the
SUV on an air mattress.

"Presa" is the Spanish word for "dam."

Tictoc, Fishing license required, however seldom checked. Allowed 2 fish per day per rod, except Feb thru May, when catch and release only. Annual license is 553 pesos.

Thanks. 2 per day per rod. One rod per person/license (I know this is probably obvious)? I see they have bass, anything else worth while?Jim W wrote:tictoc wrote:I'm curious, I assume this is catch and release? How does fishinf on the lake in Mexico work?

Tilapia as well but I think they are almost all fished out of there.
Re: PRE CHRISTMAS AQUA MILPA FISHING TRIP DEC. 19-21

Re: PRE CHRISTMAS AQUA MILPA FISHING TRIP DEC. 19-21
This was a really great trip, Bob caught the biggest, 7 pounds, John his son caught a 5 pounder. Mike and I landed in a school of bass, caught 50 plus over a one hour period....1 to 3 pound class. With the one hour time change toughest part ....Bob, JIMMY< JIMMY, it's 0 dark 30....let's go fishing!....4 f ing 30 am LMAO, outside my room!
I had the opportunity, the 1st day, to teach Bob's son John how to cast a bait caster, we had great fun!
I thank sunfan , ohiodan Mike the bass man, Bob, and John for joining us! Sunfan for his gift to me, his gift of a soccer ball to Humberto's son.....
Bob will post photo's when all are collected.

Tictoc, Tilapia are typically netted. White mild flavor, take on the flavor you choose!
