Info Please on Kayak Club

I'm interested to know about the Kayak Club here at Lakeside. A friend of mine told me that there is a membership fee - you can use the kayak's and gear?? Does anyone have first hand info on what this is all about and the costs/etc associated? I'd like to know more.

The fee is mainly to cover hospitalization if you turn over and suck in some filthy lake water and need to have your stomach pumped or extended treatment for cholera.
