What is the necessary documentation needed to apply for a DIF card?

Passport, Immigration document, and proof of address.

Also, be prepared with the name address and phone number of a friend to notify in case of an emergency.

And photos, I don't remember which size but they are small. The DIF card has your photo on it.

Where do you go for your DIF card and how long does it take?

I got mine in Chapala, on Degollado - second right after the square. It's one way of the main street. It's on the left, but they need to have the cards in. I had to go back twice to actually get one. Spencer's office used to get it for a fee - reasonable and Denise takes care of them. If you don't want to keep going back you may want to call Spencer or Denise and see if they still do them. She calls and finds out if the cards are in - it's a special type of card form and they only have so many in at a time.

We aren´t offering the service as we made so many visits and they didn´t have them or there was some hold up and we earned an average of 10 pesos a visit and it wasn´t worth it.
