A very bad restaurant experience
Yesterday a friend and I went to the new location of Frida's. We got there about 1:20 to have lunch. Including us there were 7 tables occupied with 2 to 6 people. Most were two or three.people.We were told it would be about 20 minutes until we would get our food. No problem with that. The menu is mostly sandwiches and salads with a few other items on the menu that needed to be cooked or heated such as a side of potatoes or soup.An hour and 1/2 later we still had no food and none in sight. When we asked the owner when we could expect our food he said he didn't know. He said they were just starting a couple of sandwiches.
A couple who ordered just ahead of us had just gotten their sandwiches and when asked if it was worth the wait they said no and that they would never return.Since we were now quite hungry and with no end in sight we decided to leave. We told the owner we could wait no longer. He apologized and told us everyone had come in about the same time. That time would have been about 1:00-lunch time. Surprise! Considering this was not a new restaurant, just one that had relocated, the owner should have known better
We left and went to Viva Mexico and as my lunch partner said, Frida's owner did us a favor. We had a delicious meal.
On TOB there are other posts with the same experience.

Frida's is one of my favorite restaurants, especially since they moved to the new location. I wish it were closer, I would go more often. I've enjoyed everything I've had there, except the borsch soup. Not for me,

Going into Joco it's just past the Pemex on the curve. Slow down and be careful or you'll miss it. It's in a nice garden area. I'm sure you'll like it. I would eat there more often but I live in SAT and the topes are tiresome.

So is it on the mountain side or lakeside going west? Thanks

Mountain side. It's in front of the Hotel Pescador, isn't it?

Yes. You turn in at the sign for the hotel, walled property. Go straight and stop at first building and look to your left. You will see the restaurant. If no parking spaces right there, turn right and there is a lot of open space to park. You can sit inside or outside by the pool which is lovely. The bacon avocado sandwiches are THE BEST.

Long time residents will remember the location as the first of Ruben Varela's many locations.

The first I remember Ruben was in SJC at the hotel by the pool.
I wonder who has had more restaurants, Ruben or Laura.

He was at the hotel in Jocotepec before that, maybe another location in between, don't remember.
Probably Ruben, but they both finish behind Giovanni.

Are there two Hotel Pescadors? The one that I'm thinking of is just a few yards past La Cristina in West Ajijic. Nowhere near Joco!

You're right. This one is definitely in Joco. Just west of the Pemex.

The other Hotel Pescador that I know of is in West Ajijic and is constructed out of ocean containers.

I remember the place in San Juan, he was offering Spanish classes with breakfast or something like that.. I asked for some dish and he told me "do not worry I know what you people like"..the food was mediocre and we never went back there or to any other location.

Yep that was him. And if he wasn't trying to teach you Spanish he was trying to sing to you! ugg
