Asus alptop with only audio jack.
I have an ASUS SonicMaster with only one input marked for a headphone.
Doing some research, it seems that there is an adapter thaat will split this input so I can use a mick equipped headset. Another post wants me to delee one of the Realtek programs.
Has anyone else run into this here and have any experiencce on this?
Thanks.

Is this the new high altitude and cold weather model?

It's the new ruggedized model, able to withstand sarcasm and innuendo. Perhaps even iron chariots.

Be careful to not use the Queen´s English instructions if your machine was made for Canada or Australia. It is possible that hearing Spanish that the machine is switching between Castellano Spanish, South American and Argentinian Spanish recognition modes. What you will need to do is slowly pass a taco by the machine, if no reaction, then pass a plate of paella to test for Spanish (Spain) and at last pass an arepa to see if it is set for South America. Also dont say ay, mate and dude in the same sentence of you could mess up the English language system.

If you can write Mandarin characters, there is an explanation that comes up, but not with English.

Re: Asus alptop with only audio jack.
Now that they've all had their fun....
Many new computers have one jack that will handle both headsets and earphones.
If you have a smart phone, you probably got a headset with a mike on the line. Plug that in and test it with something like Skype or one of the dictation programs. It should work.
Look on the plug, the male part. If it has 4 metal sections and 3 black insulator bands, it is both a mike/headset combo. If it just has 3 metal sections and 2 black insulator bands, it is just a headset.
I'm pretty sure that computer has a built in microphone also. It will just be a tiny hole, generally on the screen frame, near the top.
When you plug in a combo unit, it cuts the computer mike off. If you plug in just a headset, it normally will not cut off the computer mike.
Hope that helps
If you go on google and put in the computer model and look for a manual, it will explain it all also.

Re: Asus alptop with only audio jack.
I finally found the answer. There is a dual connector that goes into the hole marked for headset but is for a headset with a mirophone. You can tell ith the three bands around the plug.
There is also a USB headset w/mike but it's one unit and I couldn't find a USB that wuld take the headset and mike.
So it all worked out for me.
